CDI provides programs to help women and children who have experienced family violence or other trauma. We also help children, youth and families who have been affected by childhood sexual abuse.
Violence happens in all types of relationships, including dating, common-law, same-sex, or marriage, and it can happen after a relationship has ended. Violence in families can affect children and teens in a variety of ways. Some children may act out and have trouble making friends, while other children become quiet and withdrawn. Children may have trouble eating, sleeping and concentrating at school. Violence may also introduce unique parenting challenges.
Our Family Violence Services offer group counselling programs, shelter services and specialized sexual abuse services to support women and children in healing from the effects of violence and abuse.
Free cultural interpretation is available for all Family Violence Services programs.
