Interpersonal trauma may include adult experiences of intimate partner violence (IPV) and\/or experiences abuse and neglect in childhood and adolescence.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Developed by Child Development Institute (CDI), in response to a recognized gap in service for mothers who have experienced trauma and are parenting children under the age of four, MIM intervenes early in the lives of mothers and their young children impacted by trauma. MIM helps mothers connect with their young children in a playful, supportive environment, where parenting strengths are highlighted and built upon.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Today MIM covers a range of topics to support mothers explore different ways to be kind to and take care of themselves while reflecting on and gaining strategies to respond sensitively to the needs of their young child. MIM enhances parent-child relationships, strengthens parenting confidence and creates opportunities for connection between families with shared experiences.<\/h4>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>*A Note on Language:<\/strong> <em>In MIM we use the term \u201cmother\u201d given the disproportionate impacts of intimate partner violence on women and the burden of responsibility placed on mothers by society and more specifically within the context of various systems, such as child protection. We recognize that parents\/caregivers of various genders face intimate partner violence and other forms of trauma.
