Family and Community Counselling
Tailored counselling services from trained clinicians for families of children under the age of 6 who are experiencing social, emotional, developmental and behavioural difficulties.
Services include:
- Family therapy
- Parent counselling
- Parent-child interventions
- Parenting guidance and support
- Specialized group services
- In-home coaching and support
- Liaison and consultation to schools
Intensive Family Support Program
Intensive family-based therapeutic program in support of at-risk children ages 0 to 11. CDI works with the whole family to complete a thorough assessment and develop a collaborative action plan.
Highly individualized, the action plans may include:
- Individual, and family counselling
- Specialized group services
- Parenting strategies
- Home-based coaching and support
- School support and advocacy
- Community support
- Service coordination
If you are a youth, up to 18 years of age, or their parent or guardian, you can submit a referral for yourself or on behalf of someone else for intensive services (day treatment, live-in treatment or intensive in home treatment) to Help Ahead. Help Ahead will receive your request and can call your client or their family directly to discuss suitable options based on their needs and begin the intake process with them. Start Right Social Skills
A 12-week early intervention program for children in kindergarten who are having difficulty adjusting to the demands of their regular classroom. Children participate in “play and learn” sessions during school hours that provide structured opportunities for healthy social, emotional and behavioural learning.
The program is offered in partnership with Toronto District School Board and the Toronto Catholic District School Board, available in over 20 schools across Toronto.
School Day Treatment Program
School-based treatment program for children from JK to Grade 4 with significant emotional, social and behavioural challenges who have difficulty managing in their mainstream schools. Service includes family counselling, specialized parenting groups and in-home coaching and support.
The program utilizes a multi-disciplinary team structure that includes:
- Special education teachers
- Child and youth workers
- An educational assistant
- A family counsellor
- A psychologist
Access to a consulting psychiatrist with other professionals as needed.
